Cats

1

Find the heartbeat

Gently feel under the chest where the ribs end, near the sternum. This is where the heartbeat is strongest in cats.

2

Place your phone

Hold the bottom of your phone gently against the chest. Don't press too hard — firm pressure can distort the reading.

If your cat is purring, try showing them running water or offering a treat to pause the purring.

Horses

1

Find the landmark

On the left side, find the area just above the elbow and behind the triceps muscle. This is where the heartbeat is strongest.

2

Place your phone

Slide the bottom of your phone underneath the triceps muscle, against the chest wall. Don't place it on top of the muscle — it will muffle the sound.

General Tips

Record for at least 20 seconds

Longer recordings give our AI more data to work with for accurate analysis.

Find a quiet environment

Background noise can interfere with the recording. Turn off TVs, music, and other sources of sound.

Use the bottom of your phone

The microphone is located at the bottom of most smartphones. Position this part against the chest.

Keep the animal calm

A relaxed animal produces cleaner heart sounds. Let them settle before recording.
