Step 1

Ensure you are in a quiet environment (background noise may register as a murmur). Prepare for recording on the left side, ideally stretching the left leg forward.

Step 2

You will be placing your phone against the chest of your pet, just behind the left elbow. If you’re having trouble locating the right spot, feel or listen (using your hand or ear) to determine where you can feel or hear the heart beat most clearly.

Step 3

Part the fur in that spot, making sure you will be able to place the microphone directly against the skin. Feel the skin to place the microphone between your pet’s ribs. If you place the microphone on, rather than in between, your pet’s ribs quality may be inferior.

Step 4

Remove your phone from its case and double-check where the microphone is on your phone.

Step 5

Hold your microphone on the spot described in Step 3, making sure you are still in a completely quiet environment. Use the app to make a one minute recording. That’s it!
