Saffron is a handsome Persian cat who experienced congestive heart failure, characterised by open-mouthed panting and sudden collapse. When he was put on medication to prevent a future episode of heart failure from happening, the Sonus Health app picked up that the dosage was too low.

Luna is the kind of English Cocker Spaniel who steals hearts on sight. With that whole-body wiggle that makes you feel like you’re the best part of her day. She’s three years old, endlessly cheerful, and, like so many dogs of her breed, quiet about discomfort. Spaniels are stoics. They don’t tell you when something’s wrong until the problem has already dug in its heels. And for Luna, there was something wrong. Just… not something anyone could hear.

“Andy,” a four-year-old Deerhound, had already been diagnosed with a serious heart condition called dilated cardiomyopathy (a proper mouthful), along with an irregular rhythm that makes the heart beat out of sync. He was also slightly underweight at the time of his scan, which can sometimes happen in dogs with long-term heart disease. As Andy was on medication to control his arrhythmia (i.e. his heart’s irregular rhythm), all seemed under control.
